Looks like science may have done it again, Professor Drogenhoyle of Trinity College Dublin proposes that within 40 years Dyson Spheres may be economically feasible.
Above: Drogenhoyle and his followers begin construction of the Dyson Sphere
In order to power our ever increasing aspirations on interstellar travel Drogenhoyle has proposed a giant hollowed out sphere which will extend to ther orbit of Mars as a means of gaining extremely large amounts of energy. Drogenhoyle estimates that a nuclear explosion could be used to take apart the Martian surface and use it to construct a Dyson Sphere.
"People could live on the inside surface of the sphere, creating approximately 65 times more space for the expanding race" said Drogenhoyle.
Other scientists we spoke to, however, remained sceptical and were non-plussed by Drogenhoyle's continued references to science fiction. |
