The paperback version of Jade's autobiography will not be published next month as planned. The book was due to hit the shelves on February 5 but publisher HarperCollins has decided to pull the plug as a result of the Celebrity Big Brother race row. A spokeswoman said: "In light of recent events, HarperCollins has decided it wouldn't be appropriate to proceed with the paperback publication of Jade: My Autobiography as planned on February 5. The author and agent support this decision." Jade is believed to have made almost £1 million from sales of the hardback version. The paperback was due to feature an extra chapter which HarperCollins previously said was "guaranteed to illuminate Britain's favourite gobby girl even further". The reality star was evicted from the CBB house last week by an overwhelming majority after being perceived as the ring-leader in the alleged racist bullying of fellow housemate Shilpa Shetty. This is bound to be a major blow, after revelations that Jade has been "living in fear" due to malicious damage and a number of threats. Jade Goody claims her windows were smashed last night as a result of the Celebrity Big Brother race row. Jade said she was living in fear after her home in Harlow, Essex, was targeted. She’s been staying in a hotel since she was booted off the Channel 4 show on Friday and has yet to be reunited with her two sons, who are staying with relatives and weren’t at home during the alleged incident. "Do I deserve to get my windows smashed? Do I deserve not to see my children?" she complained during an appearance on Five talk show The Wright Stuff. "What if they were in my house last night when the windows got smashed? My two-year-old and three-year-old have got to go through that." However, Essex Police said they hadn’t been called to any incident at the address. And they denied Jade’s claims that police have been guarding the house since her eviction. "We have no reports of an incident last night and we have had no reason to guard the house," a police spokesman said. Jade’s appearance was the latest in a round of interviews aimed at rehabilitating her public image after she was accused of racist bullying towards Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty. Politician and former CBB housemate George Galloway was a fellow guest and voiced his support for Jade. "As apologies go you could not get a more sincere and broken-hearted apology than we have heard today," he saide. Whether or not Jade is a racist, it seems clear that the media storm whipped up after the incident has been far more damaging to race relations in Britain than the actual comments made by Jade. By paying so much attention to the offhand remarks of one of the least socially intelligent and least accomplished C list celebrities in the country, the media has put forward the idea of racial inequality far more eloquently than Jade Goody ever could.
