UK Motorists who use a hand-held mobile phone or fiddle with a satellite-navigation system while driving could be jailed for up to two years. Prosecutors have said they could be charged with dangerous driving in a dramatically tougher approach to such offences.
Those caught fiddling with an MP3 music player or texting on a mobile at the wheel could also face the charge. Prosecutions will be brought whenever it is judged that using the equipment posed a danger, such as forcing a car to swerve or causing a distracted motorist to jump a red light. Those who kill while using a mobile phone will face 14 years behind bars under the charge of causing death by dangerous driving.

Faith-based schools that teach creationism in science class won't receive the public funding Ontario's Progressive Conservatives have proposed, a party spokeswoman said.
“If there are schools that teach creationism in science class, they would not be eligible to be funded as part of this proposal,” Ingrid Thompson said Wednesday afternoon, clarifying controversial remarks made by PC Leader John Tory earlier in the day.
While visiting a private Jewish school in Thornhill, Ont., just north of Toronto, Tory said: "They teach evolution in the Ontario curriculum, but they also could teach the fact to the children that there are other theories that people have out there that are part of some Christian belief.”

Education Minister Kathleen Wynne, who is the Liberal candidate running against Tory in the Toronto riding of Don Valley West, told the Canadian Press that teaching creationism is allowed in Ontario schools, but only in religion classes.

ABC host George Stephanopoulos, a one-time aide to President Clinton, opened up the gates with a question to lead those who fear Obama's jet rock rise to the front of the pack to sniping.
"Is Barack Obama ready to be president, experienced enough to be president?"
"I hope people will choose to be for me based on my experience, my qualifications and my plan for the future as to what I will do as president ... You don't have to be against anybody. ... You can choose who you're for" in an attempt to appeal to the whole sway of democratic voters, and avoid aggresively targetting Obama.
She did however, defend her 2005 comments on not seeing the possibility of nuclear weapons against Iran, criticizing Obama for giving answers to hypothetical situations. |

John A. Rizzo, the C.I.A's top lawyer, is no stranger to controversy. A graduate of Brown University and the George Washington University Law School, he joined the agency in 1976, when the Church Committee of the Senate had just unearthed the agency’s involvement in assassination plots.
Since becoming senior deputy general counsel, in 1995, Mr. Rizzo has often filled in as acting general counsel. In this time he was involved in deciding the legality of many of the CIA's most controversial actions.
In an August 2002 memo, written by a senior Justice Department lawyer, said that for an interrogation technique to be torture, it must inflict physical pain that is difficult to endure.
