Nothing’s more entertaining than a wince-inducing tale of personal anguish—providing you’re not the subject, of course. In honor of this great storytelling tradition, we’ve collected some incredible tales of woe and run them by a panel of pain experts to separate the mere Ouch’s from the Sweet Jesus, let me die!’s.

The Panelists:

“Dead” Mike Vederman

A computer programmer who survived a gruesome parachute accident (don’t worry, you’ll read about it) and photo-documented his injuries on his Web site, deadmike.com.

Rick Thorne

A top-ranked BMX rider who’s bruised, broken, and shredded most of his body over the course of his career. He’s undergone four knee surgeries in the last year alone.

Dr. Christopher Gharibo

Dr. Gharibo is an assistant professor at NYU Medical Center and medical director of the Bellevue Pain Treatment Center. He totally wrecked his toe on a bed stand one time.

The title of the drawing is “Iraq Triptych”, and shows Tony Blair and Cherie covering their genitals, which is represents biblical paintings of Adam and Eve walking out of the Garden of Eden in shame. In the drawing, however, Blair and Cherie are not walking out of Eden, but instead are shown outside of the popular black door on 10 Downing Street along with body parts and skulls.

Sandle told reporters, “I wasn’t going to submit this year but I suddenly felt overcome with anger at the way Blair has messed up.” He also accused Blair of vanity because he supported the US in the invasion of Iraq and said that Blair “doesn’t appear to feel a twinge of conscience about Iraq because he is so sure that he did the right thing.”

SO in response Sandle has unveiled his 4.5 m x 1.5 m drawing during Blairs last days as Prime Minister of Britain.

According to police, a burglar who ransacked a campsite in England gave himself away by writing his name in graffiti on a wall nearby. The 18-year-old boy wrote on the wall “Peter Addison was here!” with a black marker after him and an accomplice burglarized the campsite.

The boy also put in graffiti the name of his gang on the wall, “The Adlington Massiv,” and also wrote the words “R Gay” after “Garden Birds of Britain” on a poster. As a result police were able to locate Peter Addison on their computers fairly quickly.

funny news In response to the crime by Peter Addison and his accomplice Mark Ridgeway, Inspector Gareth Woods said, “This crime is up there with the dumbest of all in the criminal league table,” and that “there are some pretty stupid criminals around but to leave your own name at the scene of the crime takes the biscuit. The daftness of this lad certainly made our job a lot easier.”

Addison has been sentenced to 12 month conditional discharge and has to pay a total of about $1500. His accomplice, Mark Ridgeway, has to do 60 hours of non-paying labor, a community order for about 12 months and has to pay a total of about $40.

Gay pub to ban straights PDF Print E-mail

An Australian hotel catering for homosexuals has won the right to ban heterosexuals from its bars so as to provide a safe and comfortable venue for gay men. In what is believed to be a first for Australia, the Victorian state civil and administrative tribunal ruled last week that the Peel Hotel in the southern city of Melbourne could exclude patrons based on their sexuality.

Australia's equal opportunity laws prevent people being discriminated against based on race, religion or sexuality. But Peel Hotel owner Tom McFeely (hahahahaha) said the ruling was necessary to provide gay men with a non-threatening atmosphere to freely express their sexuality.

"If I can limit the number of heterosexuals entering the Peel, then that helps me keep the safe balance," Peel told Australian radio on Monday. McFeely said that, while the hotel welcomed everyone, its gay clientele had expressed discomfort over the number of heterosexuals and lesbians coming to the venue in the past year.

He said there were more than 2,000 venues in Melbourne that catered to heterosexuals, but his hotel was the only one marketing itself predominantly to gay men. Victoria's state human rights commission backed the ruling, saying it was in line with equal opportunity guidelines defending the rights of groups subject to discrimination.

Commission chief Helen Szoke said the hotel's gay clientele had experienced harassment and violence. "(They) also have felt as though they've been like a zoo exhibit with big groups of women on hens' parties coming to the club," Szoke told reporters. McFeely told the radio that the hotel had received homophobic telephone calls since news of the ruling was made public.
